The Uncertainty of Passion was formed by Jackie Doe to showcase her original compositions which reflect her own unique style, influenced by her love of the accordion, her classical upbringing and her enthusiasm for folk, French and tango music. Jackie's music combines a strong sense of melody and narrative. The band made a short film which was featured on Meridian TV, performing her song The Dance of Love sung by Anne De Lima, former singer in the Geisha Girls with Les Calvert of Mungo Jerry fame on bass and Simon Spratley of Nashville Teens on keyboard. Mina and Geraldo obliged with some wonderful tango dancing, which you can see on You Tube or click on Video link below.
The Uncertainty of Passion reformed in 2010. A new Christmas single and video - My Very Own Roly Poly Father Christmas - was created in 2011 with singer Sara Harvey and Bernie Whiten (landlord of The Retreat Pub, Reading) as Father Christmas. Great fun was had by all, including decorating The Retreat Pub, despite the fact that it was only November! Bernie and Jane Marsden (landlady) were great sports and definitely went beyond the call of duty. Also not to be missed were Henry Smithson (bass player & sound engineer)'s shorts - another brave stand for individuality & self expression!
“This realization of Jackie Doe's song, has been achieved by....many of Readings' local musical talents and supported by a lot of friends and supporters of both them and the Retreat Pub. So it looks like Reading could be once again making musical history.” Reading Post
Artist Frederic Pierre created the cover for the Christmas single in his own inimitable style.
A new singer, Nicole Johnson, then joined The Uncertainty of Passion (hear her melodic voice on some of the sound bites below) before going full circle back to the original vocalist Anne De Lima.
